The next step of placing an order is gathering all necessary pictures of your horse, or coat color examples if you are creating your own horse.
It goes without saying that I will need to see each side of your horse. Solid horses (think, a chestnut with a star) aren’t that big of a deal, but for the most part I need to see exactly how your horse’s markings line up. This means socks, pinto/appy markings, and even blazes when they cross under the chin. If you are putting together a horse, just send me pictures from google of your idea.
Please make sure there are no angles to your pictures, at least of the specific posed ones. I need left, right, front, and back of the horse. I will need to see any and all hoof stripes, and their locations. If applicable I may need a topline picture if the marking is directly on the top, crosses over, or otherwise is a question mark. I will also need under the tail if there is pink skin there, belly if markings cross there, and any other potential “hidden” markings. These small details are what makes your horse so unique and I am dedicated to getting every last bit matched up!
On top of that I will need you to either take these pictures in lighting you feel represents your horse’s coat best, OR send me a couple pictures of them that you want me to base color off of. Some customers have liked their horses bright and contrasty as if they were galloping in the field on a bright summers day, and others might like a dark sleek look like if they were in the show pen ready for their class. Just let me know what you want represented on your model. I will also send updates through painting where you can guide me if you are wanting to adjust their shade.
What do I do if I sold my horse, or they passed away?
Don’t worry! A lot of my orders are of companions no longer with us. While its definitely harder for me it is not impossible and I will not turn your order away! All I need you to do is send me every picture you can find of them. Please, blow my phone up. The more the better! Just please understand that if there are limited photos or there’s certain sides that were never photographed, I will have to “connect the dots” and it might not be 100% lined up. Just help guide me and try to describe the markings best you can.
Example:
Here is my mare Maggie. Within the pictures I point out areas that would need to be documented. There are other areas she has that would be important to paint on a model, like the pink skin underneath her tail, but this at least gives you an Idea of what I mean. I will also ask for additional pictures (if applicable) if I have problem with an area.
